I’m so glad that we found Lambey’s body today but I really am so sad that her hard fight through adversity should end so sadly.
A week and a half earlier I’d been amazed to find her still alive after being left for the day and at that point I’d thought that she might be stronger than she looked.
Circumstances proved this correct, unfortunately she wasn’t invinmcible.
Whilst she was just livestock, as her vet’s bills amounted above her value, it became easy to designate her a pet and become all the more attached to her. It’ll always be the weak onmes that grab our attention and more often than not they’ll be the ones we lose in the worst circumstances.
I do think we’ve learnt from this though and in basic ways. In future we’ll ensure that any weak animals will be enclosed so that should there be a problem we’ll be able to find them quickly even if we can’t do anything to help them.
