We knew there was something in the red brick building right at the very end of the house, but it was difficult to truly investigate as the nettles and brambles were over knee high and quite painful to walk through.
So after a bit of strimming we have been able to get into the building and found this:

I can’t see any problems with getting that working again.
???
I had hoped we would find an old sink – however this one seems to be made from brick and not an old stone one.
The water came from the big water barrels at the side of the house, but goodness knows how they managed to use this without some terrible accident.
The washing machine appeared to drain into the sink, which in turn appeared to drain directly into a trench that runs along side the wall and into the road.
I think we’ll probably at some stage turn it into an office or something.
The back of this building forms the end of the area we were working on last weekend:

If you look at the bottom of the wall, you will see a millstone has been used as part of the stone building material.
I’m not sure what that little hole is under the water barrel on the right, it doesn’t seem to go anywhere. Perhaps it was used as a woodstore at some point.
I am guessing there must have been another part to go with the millstone – I wonder if we’ll find that too!
