Well, that was a surprise!
We have Christmas lights outside our house – the only one around. Not sure why we have been graced by the lights – other than there are two posts outside the house so they can hang the lights across the road.

Kitchen!

We took a look at our stove to see if we could get it working. Unfortunately, it looks that instead of installing an old-fashioned wood burning stove (which are massively in demand today), they had installed what would have been a ‘modern’ gas and wood stove. I’m not sure how it would have functioned – surely not gas and wood burning at the same time.
That is the gas pipe running across the wall above the kettle. The gas bottles, though, would have been outside – that is our gas bottle in the pic which we’re using for our burner on top of the stove.
The oven bit has a gas burner in it, but I think can also burn wood.
An Internet search returned next to nothing on woodburners with gas – so I can only imagine it wasn’t a great success. Probably doing two things not very well.
We took a look at the flue to see if that was blocked (no idea), so next step will be to get some chimney brushes to clean it. We’ve got a lot of wood so it would be good if we could use the wood burner. We won’t be connecting the gas!!!
Our current cooking set up is with the gas burner I used to use in my workshop – but it works fine and we have the microwave and a little toaster oven (also from my workshop). Our electric supply isn’t strong enough for a lot of electric items – so having the gas burners is quite useful.
Ludvig and the Lovebirds
They are based in the living room which is working quite well:

Box Room
And we’ve turned a room into quite literally a box room!

Plant Pots
We’ve planted up some of our old plant pots which is making the house look more lived in – as well as giving some colour.

Another Beach!

Donkey in a Jacket

I’m not sure if this is my imagination, however I think there’s more awareness of animal welfare in the north of Spain. For a start, I don’t think we’ve seen a bullring yet, and in the south of Spain, there are plenty of signs of bullfighting from bullrings to posters.
I don’t think we see anywhere near as many chained dogs, however that has recently been made illegal, so it might be we wouldn’t see as many in the south of Spain now either.
