High Wire Act

I think we experienced the north easterly wind that we have been warned of. And what a day for the electric company to choose to do work on the electric cables.

I was quite surprised to look out of the window and see the repair men dangling off of the wires!

We’d had a power cut the day before and I wonder if it was in preparation for the work they were doing or the work was because of the power cut. But anyway, it was quite impressive watching as the wind was gusting around them.

On the day we had the power cut we went for a walk in the woods (or forest – not sure) opposite. We took a different lane from last time which is just up from the house and headed off. Again, very different scenery.

Coming back towards Fontao

New Beach

We had to go to the vet in Burela to pick up new medication for Millie, and while we were there we went to another beach we hadn’t gone to before. It is a small beach between here and Burela and has a lot of rocks, so is probably best to go at low tide.

On the drive in, we couldn’t work out what the white stuff was on the road (landlubbers), however when we saw the beach it was soon apparent it was sea foam!

I think the beach sort of ends at these rocks at high tide.

Sargadelos

There’s a ceramics factory just outside Cervo named after the village it is in called Sargadelos. It’s very close to us, 3km or so.

I am not sure how well known it is out of Spain but their style is distinctive and distinctly quirky. This is their website HERE.

We’d hoped to go for a coffee there as they have a visitor’s centre, but it was shut. However we did get a little peak as to the factory and the surroundings – quirky indeed!

We’ll go back another day.

The interesting thing is, we are finding odds and ends of Sargadelos ceramics on the beach (when we are sea glass hunting). Their stuff IS very distinctive, so the bits we find with the pattern still on it are very clearly Sargadelos.

I’ll save our beach combing exploits for another post 🙂
