—is among the most unlikely things I think I’d ever expected to hear Ian say.
We found that there is a ‘trail of the mills’ which starts on ‘our’ beach. We couldn’t quite work out where it started, as it entails crossing the railway line and there’s no obvious track, so we thought we’d drive to where we knew the trail crossed the road and we’d take a look from there.
The river runs from Sargadelos – which is the ceramic factory, and low and behold – we found some ceramic shards – which then led us to think what sort of treasures may there be in the river.
It was a really nice walk, but we stopped and turned round as it was very windy and while it was sheltered by the river, the trees were moving alarmingly higher up (which was the right thing to do as it so happens as trees did come down over that day – according to the news).

But it was certainly nice enough down by the river to stop for a picnic lunch.

Hence the need for waders – so we can stand in the river and look for pottery shards!
