Cathedral Beach

We went to Praia As Catedrais (Cathedral Beach), which is just the other side of Foz. We had to time this right, as much of the beach can’t be seen during high tide, so it’s best to visit to coincide with low tide.

It gets so popular in the summer that people have to book tickets to visit – it’s free, but so they can manage the visitor numbers, there were a few people there when we visited – but not hoards of people. A lot of camper vans from different European countries.

It’s a very impressive sight. It’s called Cathedral beach because the rock formations are like the buttresses of Cathedrals.

I took a lot of photos, so I’m just going to put them into a gallery as there’s really not that much to say about them!

This is about 36 km, 22 or so miles from us. We’re planning on going back early in the morning to take some sunrise photos, so need to watch the tides again!
