When I was out counting lambs yesterday, I noticed that Bertha has turned into a boy. Not sure how this happened, because I am sure that she was a girl – and I can’t believe I got it wrong (again).
I also got quite amazingly wrong the fact that the late Peter Cook is Paul Temple in a vintage ‘who dunnit’ series on the radio, thinking that I had found a little known fact. So little known that I wondered why no one else had heard of this, and indeed, why his name was consistently spelt wrong (Peter Coke), and it did also cross my mind that it didn;t sound like him. So when M&D were here and I told them of this and they looked at me incredulously, I proved that I was right by looking on the internet. This is when I found that it was not Peter Cook, and it was Peter Coke who is a little known person who has never performed with Dudley Moore. So I apoligise if I have caused some cult listening of Paul Temple under false pretences.
M&D went home on Tuesday. Ian remembered to pick them up Thurs night and I dropped them to the train station Tuesday morning. We had a good few days, Friday I had to go to college so I dropped M&D in Penrith and they had a wander and we met Ian for lunch and then Saturday it was the open day at the college and we went to see the exhibition and had a look around the college. We went into their animal unit and spoke to the person who runs the dog grooming class. She was very excited about the prospect of having the loan of Basil to groom and he is booked in for 9th June. They have some new facilities for big dogs, and just needed one to practice on!
I have not done as much paperwork for my felt course as I should, so I went to see the tutor. She said it would be a shame for me to drop out and has given me a list of the bits I need to do, and it isn’t too bad. Part of it is potato printing – like being back at school again!
I have applied to take a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course and have been brushing up on my English. Well, when I say brushing up, trying to work out the difference between present progressive and present continuous tense, and what on earth a misrelated participle is (and these were just the bits I can roughly understand). Ian has been a bit of a disappointment, he is normally so supportive, and I am sure he appreciates my correcting his english usage. However I was very dissapointed that when I asked him to make some statements that I could analyse, they were all quite rude and seemed to end in ‘off’.
The tenants have left Bridge End House, so I hope that we get some interest in it. Ian is going to put another website up with details of it on and we’ll look at taking out some private advertising for both properties. We just need someone with some money! I spoke to Jeremy and he said that there is a lot of interest in houses on Alston Moor, but from people who are yet to sell theirs – which doesn’t help anyone really….
