Who’d have thought we’d have such an interest in boats 🙂 That photo is hydrofoil ferry which has been built in the ship yard in Burela. It’s for an Italian company. The ship yard in Burela also has recently built a search and rescue boat, so although it appears small, it appears to do quite well.
But where our expertise is really beginning to shine is boat spotting on the horizon which is the start of the shipping lane.
If you look carefully below, there are two ships. There’s one on the horizon in the middle of the pic and a small lump to the left which is another.

And there’s another on the horizon below too. Just to the left of the chimney on the house in the middle.

And then closer in we see fishing boats. Here’s a little fishing boat to the right of the pylon:

and at night and early morning we see the fishing boats with lights on:

It’s hard not to think of smugglers when we see the lights at night – particularly when they are around the headland. But I think they are probably just collecting lobster pots 🙂
