Amethyst?

Well, I don’t know! It definately is a type of quartz, I think, and I can’t imagine what else it would be. It’s too big to put in the tumbler, but I’d be quite interested to polish part of it and see what it’s like. Or even slice it.

We have done a much better job with the latest batch of pebbles we’re polishing. It’s difficult to tell from here – but we started with ones as perfect as possible, and then I took out today any which had obvious flaws. Still a few weeks to go, but it was definately worth checking first what we were putting into the tumbler!

These are the lighthouses at San Cibrao and we had a picnic there after going to the supermarket. The one on the left was built in 1850 something and the one on the right 1920 something.

With a nice view towards mermaid island 🙂
