Ian made a pie for tea on Sunday. It was very nice, consisting of broccoli, green beans, peas, cabbage, green pepper – and some sweetcorn. Ian gave it the name of ‘green and yellow’ pie, which immediately bought back memories of campfire songs. I asked Ian if he’d ever heard the song ‘green and yellow’, which is said he hadn’t. So I sung it to him, which seemed to confuse him further – and me too, actually, as I realized I’d forgotten the words and, indeed, the tune.
So naturally we turned to the Internet, and tracked it down under the name of ‘Henry My Son’. There were a surprising number of variations, none of which sounded quite like I remembered it – which, in true campfire style, was involved a terrible writhing death due to eating snakes.
Alfie has settled in very well. He seems a happy little chap and he is quite content to snuggle up with the others – and they are quite happy for him to do so, which is nice to see.
