I think we can say with confidence that Herbie is fully engaged with us now! He is quite happy at letting us know when he wants a comfy place to sit – or something to eat. Generally this entails his trying to climb up our legs. His fitness has improved tremendously too – here are some pictures of Herbie telling Ian that he wants to share his chair with him – and if Ian won’t share his chair then Herbie will snuggle down on his boot! His back legs are now strong enough to hold him, and he can stand on his back two legs without his front legs supporting him. He doesn’t run, but he certainly walks with speed, and I wonder if perhaps his blindness is now a drawback to his movement more then his limb mobility. His little legs will never work properly – give that the front legs are jointed at a rather odd angle and I think he has some joint displacement problems – however given his situation, his movement and mobility is certainly better than we could have hoped for.
