Ian had to get the drone out this week to check the roof and see if we’ve lost any tiles or if any tiles have moved
While we certain have more rain here than in Extremadura – we don’t have the full-on bucket-over-the-head type rain that we had when it did actually rain in Extremadura.
Well, at least we didn’t. The other day it rained extraordinary heavily. Certainly like the heavy rain we had experienced in Extremadura. Rain came through the front door – through leaks in the roof, under loose tiles…
It rained so heavily that it washed the soil from the plant pots outside – the roots of the plants were completely soiless!
It was very much unlike anything we had experienced here before and I think would have been unusual even in Extremadura. The big difference was in Extremadura it was often accompanied by hail which blocked the drain in our patio which helped cause flooding. Here there was a bit of hail, but not really significant, and with the house being raised, we don’t suffer flooding.
And like rain that falls heavily like this – in a few minutes it was over and the sun was out again and we were left wondering if we’d dreamt it!
What it did demonstrate though was that the repair that Ian did on the bathroom roof was good as this didn’t have any leaks. But it did show that we had a few new ones that needed investigation.
Before we moved we bought a drone specifically to look at the roofs of property. We haven’t really used it much since then – other than to look at the roof our our house and look for missing tiles. Perhaps we did ought to use it more as it does give a different perspective!
We were able to get a really good look at the roof and see where tiles had moved or where there were gaps. Unfortunately it didn’t tell us where one of the biggest leaks was coming from but we’ll keep an eye out when it next rains and see if there are any clues.
Ian landed the drone without it getting caught in any wires!
